Exploring Weight

In reception we have been exploring weight. We have been using scales to weigh and order objects. We baked biscuits and used the scales to help us identify which ingredient was the heaviest and which ingredient was the lightest. We found that flour was the heaviest ingredient we used and the egg was the lightest ingredient.

What impact do sugary drinks have on our teeth?

Today we carried out the first experiment of our working scientifically topic. Our question is, “What impact do sugary drinks on our teeth?”. We used eggs to represent our teeth as they are made of calcium carbonate which is what egg shells are made of too! Visual literacy

  We used visual literacy to continue our understanding of the text The Stone Age Boy. We worked hard as a team and then performed our verdict of the story before listening to the real text. We had to use inference skills and imagery in order to create our own version. We had lots of fun doing this and everybody worked hard and spoke in front of the class.

In Class 8 we are studying the book The Stone Age Boy and The London Historical Museum asked us if we could identify what our book may be about using the sensory items. 3…2…1 action

On Friday we interviewed one another in the style of Stone Age Boy. We used hot seating and performance freeze frames too help us imagine what it would have been like falling down the hole. This will help us to write our newspaper report as we will use these thoughts and feelings to write more detailed reports. We had lots of fun doing this and worked hard as a team!
