Rainforest Collage

Last week, we continued our rainforest art project and created another version of our animal using collaging. We focused on adding colour to our animals and then used a contrasting black and white back ground using newspapers and text from books.          

Power Maths Assembly

Today pupils in Class 11 helped to describe the different Power Maths characters: Flexible Flo, Determined Dexter, Curious Ash, Brave Astrid and Sparks. During assembly, we discussed how these characters help our growth mindset in Maths. Well done to Tyresse, Lana, Paige, Amber and Peter for their fantastic performances in both KS1 and KS2 assemblies!

Voting for our Children’s Champion

Today in Class 9 we cast our votes for who we want to be Rochdale Children’s Champion. After watching each of the six candidates’ videos in assembly, we put our x in the box on the ballot paper before posting them in the ballot box. Parents v Teachers Netball

On Friday after school, the parents and PTFA teacher team joined together for their annual netball match. After an exhausting and competitive 4 rounds, the teachers were the victorious team scoring 13 goals to 4. Working Scientifically – Making Slime!

As part of our new Science topic ‘Working Scientifically’ we looked at the ingredients we might use to make slime, predicted how it might go, experimented then reflected on our experiment. Some children decided they had put too much water in, some not enough and some were just right! We also experimented with using and mixing colours together too.

PTA v Staff Netball 2019

This afternoon saw the third meeting of the annual PTA v Staff Netball Match. Thank you very much to all the parents who came and played, your participation in these kind of events is hugely appreciated by all at Harwood Park. Well done to the teachers who managed to sneak the win this year in what was a fun contest.

Class 10’s investigation results!

On Tuesday, we carried out an investigation to find out the effects of sugary drinks on our teeth using eggs. Egg shells are made up of the same material as the enamel on our teeth – calcium carbonate. We left the eggs for 2 days to see what would happen. Here are the results: Water didn’t change the egg.
