Today we celebrated World Book Day. We dressed up as words and then explored the Mr Men series of books by Roger Hargreaves. After reading a couple of stories including Mr Bump and Mr Grumpy, we designed our own Mr Men characters and wrote stories about them.

Today we celebrated Safer Internet Day. We looked at how technology has changed over time and how it’s influence is increased. We also discussed how the internet influences us today and designed our own, positive, influencers.
In Science, we have been learning about micro-organisms (living things so small they can’t been seen with the naked eyes). One of these micro-organisms is yeast. This half term in DT, Class 13 have been planning a Christmas buffet. They had to consider traditional Christmas foods, allergies and other dietary needs as well as cost. Class 13 used multilink cubes this week to explore and represent ratio. The cubes really helped us to visualise the ratio between two sets of objects and how that could also be represented as a fraction.
Today, Class 13 participated in the Hour of Code – a global movement designed to encourage people to get into coding in fun, accessible ways. As part of our Science topic, ‘Seeing Light’, Class 13 made periscopes to explore reflection. They had to cut and fold the card carefully, thinking about the angles of incidence and reflection. When they had finished, they tested them by standing outside the classroom and using them to see in.
