In our design and technology lessons, Class 5 have been making puppets. We made an owl puppet to link with our text in English. We used many skills such as designing, cutting, sewing and evaluating. Our completed puppets have been proudly displayed for all to enjoy!
Class 9 have enjoyed exploring the new playground equipment today. They have been climbing, sliding, balancing and swinging while working cooperatively and helping each other.
Last term, Class 9 studied the work of American pop artist Andy Warhol . They explored the themes and techniques of his work and then painted their own self-portraits in his style. Can you work out who is who?
In nursery we have been counting the broad bean seeds. We have been looking at how many we have in two groups and then adding the two groups together to find the total.
This week Class 5 have begun reading their new English text, The Twits by Roald Dahl. We have enjoyed meeting the characters and exploring the vocabulary used to describe them. Today we read ‘Dirty Beards’ and discovered just how disgusting Mr Twit’s beard is! We used the text to find examples of what was hidden inside.
In English we have began our new topic by reading a non-fiction text about Ducks. We picked out lots of new vocabulary from the text and looked the meaning of the words up in dictionaries. We have learnt lots of new vocabulary this week, for example, webbed feet, drake, waterproof and omnivore.
Class 13 worked together in teams to answer reading comprehension questions. The competition was close as to who would answer them all correctly first. Well done to the winning team!
Over half term, class 12 were set the task of making a boat to test as part of our science lesson. The force we were focussing on was water and air reistance. Today as part of our statistics learning journey we have been looking at bar charts and interpreting data. We had a go at creating a bar chart and writing questions for other members of the class to answer.
Today we have had Total Dance in school delivering taster sessions for their new Fit Club which will be after school on Wednesdays for the next 5 weeks from 3.30 – 4.30. We hope that lots of children will join up as they really enjoyed the sessions today. If your child would like a place, letters need to be returned to the school office ASAP.
