Owl Puppets

In our design and technology lessons, Class 5 have been making puppets. We made an owl puppet to link with our text in English. We used many skills such as designing, cutting, sewing and evaluating. Our completed puppets have been proudly displayed for all to enjoy!  

Meet the Twits!

This week Class 5 have begun reading their new English text, The Twits by Roald Dahl. We have enjoyed meeting the characters and exploring the vocabulary used to describe them. Today we read ‘Dirty Beards’ and discovered just how disgusting Mr Twit’s beard is! We used the text to find examples of what was hidden inside.

Non-fiction Text

In English we have began our new topic by reading a non-fiction text about Ducks. We picked out lots of new vocabulary from the text and looked the meaning of the words up in dictionaries. We have learnt lots of new vocabulary this week, for example, webbed feet, drake, waterproof and omnivore.

Pirates of the Harwoodbean

Over half term, class 12 were set the task of making a boat to test as part of our science lesson. The force we were focussing on was water and air reistance. The challenge was to build a boat which is streamlined and moved through the water quickly. Miss Bishop was so impressed by our efforts! We tested all our boats in a paddling pool and timed them. Fit Club!

Today we have had Total Dance in school delivering taster sessions for their new Fit Club which will be after school on Wednesdays for the next 5 weeks from 3.30 – 4.30. We hope that lots of children will join up as they really enjoyed the sessions today. If your child would like a place, letters need to be returned to the school office ASAP.
