Special Achievements in Class 11

Last week, Class 11 discussed the use of plastic straws in our language and communication lesson. Ruby and Alex were then inspired to create posters at home using the ideas we discussed. Ruby’s ,um sent her poster to Blue Peter and Ruby was awarded with a green Blue Peter badge! Space

Our topic this term is all about space. We have enjoyed learning all about the moon, sun, earth, astronauts and rockets! We have learnt lots of new vocabulary and have enjoyed playing matching pairs game with our new vocabulary where we match the word to the correct picture.

Doubling using dominoes

We have been working hard in Maths doubling numbers. We hunted for dominoes in a tray and identified the number we were doubling. We then doubled the number by counting all of the dots together and matched the number to the correct number card.

Measuring in Class 11

This week we started our topic of Measurement in Maths. We began by discussing the mathematical terminology we may use such as capacity, length and weight. We also used our prior knowledge to predict the length or weight of objects in the classroom including pupils, equipment and teachers! We then used this knowledge to convert lengths using mm,cm and m. We found the tape measures were s great help with this skill.  

The Great Harwood Bake off

As part of a fundraising initiative, our Primary Leadership Team have planned a whole school baking competition. This event aims to raise money for the ‘Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital’ charity, as well as bringing the school community together.   The bake off will take place on Friday 28th June and is open to children from Nursery to Year 6. SATs Revision Posters

Year 6 have been working extremely hard in the build up to next weeks’ SATs. Class 14 have recapped every area of Y6 Maths… and have decided to present step-by-step guide posters to the trickier concepts.

Delivering the weather forecast!

As part of our Science topic we have been looking at the seasons and the different types of  weather we might experience during these seasons. The children worked hard in pairs to write and present the weather forecast for the rest of class 4 and they did a brilliant job! Well done Class 4!
