Welcome back Class 6!

This week Class 6 have had a great start to the school year! They have started a  Design and Technology project by researching products that have already been made and looking at mechanisms in pop-up books. We’ve started PE lessons where we have practised our throwing and catching skills and Read more…

A Scientific Afternoon

During Wednesday afternoon, we held an inter school science display in which multiple schools from across Heywood came to demonstrate a science experiment they had been learning or studying. Water Cycle in a bag

Today we looked at the water cycle and how water circulates in our everyday life. To replicate this, we put some water in a bag and stuck it to the window. we witnessed the effects of evaporation, condensation, and precipitation. It’s super interesting.

Investigators

We have magnets in our investigation station this week. The children have enjoyed seeing which objects are magnetic and which are not. Today Skylar and Benji went around the school to explore what magnetic things they could find.

Evaporation!

In science this week, we found a practical way to see the speed at which things evaporate. We poured down some water and drew around the puddle. We measured how much had evaporated every 5 minutes.

A heated experiment

For science week, we expanded our knowledge into States of Matter by seeing if all materials melt at the same temperature. It was an interesting experiment with an outcome we didn’t really expect.
