A heated experiment

For science week, we expanded our knowledge into States of Matter by seeing if all materials melt at the same temperature. It was an interesting experiment with an outcome we didn’t really expect.

Science Week – Plants

Class 8 have been investigating the functions of the different parts of the plant. We looked closely at how water travels from the soil to all the parts of the plant through the roots and the stem. We used a celery stick and coloured dye to see for ourselves how Read more…

DNA week!

We had a great start to our STEM club with a super interesting lesson all about DNA. We learnt that our DNA is longer than 9 million kilometres. It could get to the sun and back several times. 10cm of our DNA stores 10Gigabytes. we then built our own DNA Read more…

Flick the Switch

We investigated the use of a switch today and how they’re used in our lives. We then had a go at building our own switches and we had to pick the right materials that could conduct electricity. we found it a bit of an engineering challenge and once we thought Read more…

Choc Rock

In Science, we created sedimentary rock by layering blended white, dark and milk chocolate (sediment). Then, we wrapped the ‘sediment’ in foil and compressed and compacted it. It gave us an insight into how sedimentary rock is formed over millions of years. We used heating and cooling to demonstrate how Read more…

Skittles Fun!

As part of our new Science learning journey, ‘Working Scientifically’ Class 6 carried out an investigation using Skittles. We wanted to find out what happened to them when we added water. We were amazed to observe the effects and learn about what had happened. Can you explain what happened to Read more…
