As part of this year’s Safer Internet Day, class 12 focussed on keeping our passwords safe and secure. We talked about how important it is to keep our information and documents safe and secure. We finished the lesson by exploring a password generator.
This week we have been learning how to log on to our computers using our username and password. We have also learnt how to name and save our work!
In computing, class 12 have been re exploring using a programme based on the use of spreadsheets. We discussed how the programme 2calculate is very similar to excel and understood the real life uses of the skills we will develop.
Look at our wonderful pictures! The children in a Reception have been using 2Simple to draw a picture of what they want to be when they are older and they have tried hard to use the keyboard to type the word.
Our new topic in Computing this half term is Spreadsheets. The children spent the first lesson exploring spreadsheets, entering data into cells, changing the colour of cells and locking the contents so they can’t be changed.
We begin our new learning today re visiting the purpose of using programmes like excel. We visited prior learning and discussed key vocabulary such as column, row, cell, function, navigate and a few more. We created some simple calculations using the function buttons provided.
In Computing, we have started the new year by recapping how to be safe online. We took part in a Kahoot quiz and then discussed the answers as a class, reminding ourselves of the key things we need to remember when using an electronic device.
This week in Class 9, we have been learning about Remembrance Day ahead of next Monday’s commemorations. We watched a video by PoppyScotland about how and why we mark Remembrance Day and why we wear poppies. Then, we coded short animations to explain what we had learnt. We had to Read more…
