Does acid break down all foods in the same way?

This half term, we have been looking at eating and the digestive system. Today we conducted an investigation to see if acid breaks down all foods in the same way. We took 5 different foods and mimiced part of the digestion process. First we put our foods into a bowl (the mouth) and added water (saliva). We then mashed up the contents using a fork (teeth). WINNER!

Rochdale Hornets Rugby Club ran a competition for children to design their own rugby ball. Leah in Class 10 was the WINNER! She won a Rochdale Hornets rugby shirt and a Santa Claus rugby ball. Well done Leah.

Christmas in Class 11

This week, Class 11 said goodbye to Mrs Coombes and wished her lots of luck and wishes in her new job. We also took part in the KS2 Carol Concert performing ‘Do you want to build a snowman’ and ‘In Summer’ from Frozen. Children dressed Richard up as a snowman while they were singing and everyone did a fantastic performance! Freya also bravely performed a solo on a cornet as part of the show.  

A volcanic eruption.

Today class 7 & 8 explored a volcanic eruption using bicarbonate of soda an vinegar. The volcano erupted and we saw the explosion and saw the trail of destruction the lava left down the cone on the volcano. Both classes were very excited when the lava started to come out of the crater.
