Good morning and happy Friday! We hope you are all well and have had a lovely week.

Today is the Book Trust’s Pyjamarama, which is an amazing online festival, which aims to encourage children of all ages to experience the joy and wonder of bedtime stories.

Dress up in your PJs and take part in BookTrust’s online reading festival from home – full of fun story-time activities for the whole family. You can look forward to a day of readings, draw-alongs and quizzes with some of the nation’s  favorite authors and illustrators, all culminating in a bedtime story.

So pop on your favourite PJs, onesie or comfy outfit and go along to BookTrust’s online reading festival. The timetable below shows which live activities they have on offer today however, there is also a range of activities that you can download and do in your own time at the website below.

(I’m particularly looking forward to Cressida Cowell – she’s the author of the Wizards of Once series Class 13 have been reading and also the How to Catch a Dragon series).

Today’s home learning is:

English:

  • Read for at least 15 minutes. This could be a book, a magazine, online article etc – something you know you’ll like. Find somewhere quiet  and enjoy!
  • English creative writing worksheet from the home learning pack. Read the story opening on the page – how do you think it might continue? Follow what you know about story structures. Opening with setting and characters, a build-up, some sort of problem, a resolution and ending. Try to use all of the descriptive writing techniques you’ve become so good at in writing this year! We’d love to read what you write so if you can, get an adult to take a picture of it and email it to your teacher.

Maths

  • Power Maths Book C pages 72 -74. Problem Solving – Time. This will require you to use your knowledge of time. Don’t forget, drawing a number line to add and subtract time will help you work out how much time has passed. If you need any help, do ask!
  • Arithmetic Test 6. See if you can beat your score from Tuesday!

RE

  • Draw your own logo, using Humanist ideas from our topic. If you read back over the work you have completed in RE this week, you should be able to combine these ideas and  get some ideas of what you believe in and how you might represent this in a logo. Again, we’d love to see what you come up with and you could email these over to us!

If you need any help with activities or just want to get in touch, get an adult to email your class teacher or comment below. We look forward to hearing from you!
