Happy Friday Year 1

Well done for completing another week of home learning!

Here is a reminder of your home learning tasks for today:

Remember to keep active with Joe Wicks’ workout or why not try out some of the movement and mindfulness videos on  GoNoodle to get you ready for the day ahead

Reading/Phonics: Tune into your daily Read Write Inc lesson.

All lessons will be available at 9.30 am.

Set 1, 2 and 3 Speed Sounds lessons will restart.
Set 2 and 3 Speed Sounds lessons will include new words for reading and spelling.

Complete the phonics lesson on YouTube.  Read a book of your choice and write a book review.

Starter:  Carrying on from yesterday, reinforce the purpose of the analogue clock. If you have an analogue clock or watch, allow children to use this to change the time and give them times to change the clock hands to (only to the hour, e.g 2 o’clock.) Replay yesterday’s video.

Task: Using the blank clock faces, give children times to draw on the faces to the hour (e.g 4 o’clock, 6 o’clock). You may need to show an example first, clearly differentiating between the small hour hand and the longer minute hand.

Afternoon activities- Make sensory rainbow rice!

You’ll need: 1 cup long grain white rice, 1/2 tsp vinegar, food colouring and food storage container(s) with a lid

Method:

Pour the rice into your container, add a couple of drops of your chosen food colouring and drizzle vinegar over the top. Put the lid on your tub (make sure it’s definitely sealed!) and shake the contents around. When you take off the lid, you’ll see your rice has been dyed. Spread your colourful rice onto a baking sheet or plate to dry for at least 12 hours. Make as many colours as you want!

If you have any questions about the work or would like to send us any pictures, please ask an adult to email:
