In Class 13 we have have been studying micro-organisms. This week we specifically looked at the properties of yeast and conducted an experiment to see which food yeast liked the best. When absorbing nutrients, yeast releases carbon dioxide. To investigate our question, we added a 100ml of water and a packet of yeast to a selection of foods like : coffee, salt and sugar in a ziplock bag. As a class we made predictions about which food we thought yeast would like the best and then we observed the changes. We noticed that the bag that was filled with the most CO2 was the food that liked yeast the most.
