Class 9 had a wonderful time exploring poetry today with local poet, Ian Bland.

Ian delivered a fun assembly where he performed some of his poems including, The Dinner Lady Dance, I’ll Never Fall in Love Again, and The Teachers are Asleep (which required audience participation from Miss French and other members of staff!).

We then had a workshop with Ian where we were taught how to write our own rhyming puzzle poems, which they then performed in another assembly. Here are some examples – can you guess what they are?

By Daisy and Adam:

I stretch across from fence to fence
I only cost a couple of pence
I hang your clothes to get them dry
I hang them so high in the sky
When it rains, I heave a sigh
What am I?

By Adelia and Travis:

I am blue and very fast
You won’t even see me pass
I go around collecting rings
And lots of other shiny things
I can spin and jump up high
Who am I?

By Alex and Theo:

I am an animal that is man’s best friend
My barking can send you round the bend
I like to run around and play
I listen to you when you say stay
On your bed, I like to lie
What am I?
