Music Lessons in Class 9

Usually in year 4, the children would learn how to play the cornet but, due to current Covid-19 restrictions this isn’t possible. Instead, Mr Dixon from Rochdale Music Service is coming in every Friday to teach us Music Theory through different games and activities.

This week we recapped what the words ‘tempo’, ‘pitch’ and ‘dynamics’ meant and were introduced to new terminology for the length of the notes:

• quaver (1/2 a beat)
• crotchet (1 beat)
• minim (2 beats)
• semibreve (4 beats)

We then put our new found knowledge into practise using a Greatest Showman body percussion track.
