Today in Class 9, we have been ‘Harnessing Heat’ with one of the scientists from Mad Science.
We talked about how and why materials change states when they are hated or cooled and then we saw this in action with a tea-bag rocket and a candyfloss machine.
We also attended a whole school assembly where we helped show that it’s better to be stood on by an elephant than someone wearing high heels, how the force of ‘lift’ makes aeroplanes fly and how, when you give energy to methylated spirit and turn it into gas, you can cause a mini-explosion.
It was a fantastic day and we really enjoyed it. Thank you to Mr Bishop for organising it
