Today we carried out the first experiment of our working scientifically topic. Our question is, “How do sugary drinks affect our teeth?”

In order to answer our question, we planned an experiment using eggs to represent our teeth because teeth are made of calcium carbonate which is what eggshells are made of too! We submerged the eggs in 5 different drinks:

  • water
  • fresh orange juice
  • full-fat coke
  • an energy drink
  • skimmed milk

We then covered them and are leaving them over the weekend to see what happens.

Watch this space for the results which should be available early next week.

Loved it. Thank you Miss French for planning this lesson.

I’m glad you liked it, Charlie. Has it affected how many sugary drinks you have?
