This week Class 9 have been learning all about 3D shapes. We recapped the names of the shapes and learnt some new vocabulary ‘faces‘, ‘edges‘ and ‘vertices‘. Then, today, we got to apply everything that we had learnt when Miss French challenged us to build 3D shapes using cocktail sticks and marshmallows. The shapes we had to build were:

  • cube
  • triangular-based pyramid
  • square-based pyramid
  • triangular prism

We had to think carefully about the shapes of the faces we would need to make and how many sticks (edges) and marshmallows (vertices) we would need for each shape.
