Good morning Class 9!

I don’t know how you’re finding these days in lockdown but for me it’s a bit of a rollercoaster. Most days I’m fine, but there are moments where I feel sad, worried or angry. And that’s okay. These are not normal times, we can’t expect to feel normal and we can’t always control our emotions, but we can control our actions and think about how they might affect those around us. So today, I challenge you to be kind – to your parents, brothers, sisters or whoever you may come into contact with today.

Here is the work for today:

  • Daily Exercise: Put on your favourite playlist and dance like no-ones watching!
  • Daily Reading: at least 15 minutes – please record in your reading record
  • Maths: Power Maths Unit 12, Lesson 2  – Pounds, pence & hundredths (Book C pg 32-34). Here’s the Discover & Think Together guidance to help
  • English: Grammar – Possessive Pronouns
  • Spelling: Rainbow Writing – write the word in one colour, then go over it in another. Repeat until you run out of colours!
  • Fluency: Oxford Owl Times Tables Match – Match the two calculations that have the same product (answer)
  • Computing: Use the Story Planner sheet to plan out your comic strip using the answers to yesterday’s questions.  Come up with a title and note down what you are going to show (pictures and text) in each box. Think carefully about this – you don’t want to run out of space.
  • Something fun:
    • Quick draw. Set a 1 minute timer, draw a quick doodle and see if the other person can guess what it is before the time is up.
    • Lego challenge. You and four friends are stuck on desert island – build a boat that will get you home. (feel free to use other construction materials if you don’t have any Lego).

Don’t forget to leave a comment to let everyone know what you’ve been up to! If you’ve missed any of the home learning, it’s still available on the blog so make sure to go back and catch up (particularly with the Maths or you may be lost).

If you have any questions about the work or want to send me photos or examples of the work you’ve been doing, please ask your parents to email me at class9@harwoodpark.rochdale.sch.uk or you can leave a comment here on the blog.
