Good Morning Class 9! I hope you had a good weekend and are ready for a new week of home learning.

Never Say I Can't Always Say I'll Try:

Here are two examples of creative writing from last week:

Charlie (Title: Trapped)

Darkness was coming.  If he didn’t find a way out soon, he’d freeze and die, in an enormous ice cube.   He pushed and shoved, he tossed and turned, but there was no way out.  He knew that if he didn’t make a move then it would all be over.  He searched the edges to find a crack, but there wasn’t a hole.
He was sweating with fear, trembling down to the grains of his bones. He felt overwhelmed, tired after all of the hard work. He won’t give up until he reaches the end.  All of a sudden, a thought hit his mind.
“What if I can reach the stars with my power?”

Lucy (Title: Left Behind)

Rose was an 11 year old girl who was poor, she loved living on the ship helping Captain Bones and doing odd jobs on the ship to help, like gathering materials, that was her favourite job, but when she was doing it she took too long, so Captain Bones flew off without her! She came back to where the ship was, but she saw the ship went off without her.

Tears came down from her eyes, “When will I ever get back home now?” said Rose.

But the next morning, when she arose the ship came back to collect her. She was delighted with joy, she hopped on happily and she made sure she never got left behind ever again!
Please do send in your work so we can feature it on the blog for your classmates to see!

Here is a reminder of your home learning tasks for today:

  • Daily Exercise: Create your own work out routine – it must last at least 10 minutes.
  • Daily Reading: at least 15 minutes – please record in your reading record.
  • Maths: Power Maths Unit 13, Lesson 1  – Units of time (1) (Book C pg 58-60). Here’s the Discover & Think Together guidance to help.
  • English: Reading Comprehension – Harry Drinkwater’s Diary.
  • Spelling: Use the internet or dictionary to find the definitions.
  • Fluency:

  • Mindfulness: – This week, I have decided to focus on Mindfulness. You may do the mindfulness activities I have set in any order. Mindfulness is not prescriptive – do whichever activities you feel will help you find calm. The time we have at the moment is a good opportunity to find an activity you can use in future for calm and quiet time. If you’d like to follow the activities I have set on the timetable, choose at least one brain break breathing card, two yoga poses cards and one mindfulness challenge card for today. For me, I find listening to music helps me relax, or curling up with a good book. Let me know what works for you  in the comments below – it might work for others too.
  • French: As you may have seen in Miss Caulcutt’s blog post, you now have access at home to the website used at school for learning French. Language Angels Home School is accessible with the username: Harwoo1842 and the password: lahome Through the website, you’ll be able to practise your French and learn some new words and phrases through their games and songs.

Don’t forget to leave a comment to let everyone know what you’ve been up to! If you’ve missed any of the home learning, it’s still available on the blog so make sure to go back and catch up (particularly with the Maths or you may be lost).

If you have any questions about the work or want to send me photos or examples of the work you’ve been doing, please ask your parents to email me at class9@harwoodpark.rochdale.sch.uk or you can leave a comment here on the blog.

      Have a fantastic day!

      Miss French 😀🐘
