Rochdale Town Hall

As part of their Graphic Novel Project, Year 4 went to Rochdale Town Hall. We took part in an exciting trail to look at different rooms and had passwords and riddles to solve along the way. We looked at the outside of the building to see the gargoyles and grotesques and found lots of beautiful and meaningfulness architecture inside.  

Play through Maths – International Maths Day

This week our school celebrated International Maths Day. The theme this year is ‘Playing with Maths’. For our Maths lesson, children played a variety of board games including chess, trivial pursuit, connect 4, monopoly and more. We discussed how maths is everywhere and how this links to our games such as fractions in trivial pursuit and use of money in monopoly.

To celebrate Maths day today we played some maths games. Our first game was to use the dice to make addition sentences, we raced to see which group could complete the most using the timer. We also played ‘grab the cube’ where we followed instructions and used our number bonds to compete for the cube! We had lots of fun!

World Book Day

Class 9 celebrated World Book Day this week! Children were dressed up as a word such as creative, athletic and magical. We looked at an alternative version of the three little pigs story from the point of view of the wolf. We did some drama to prove the wolf’s innocence and watch a video of his version of events.
