Good morning Class 9! It’s Wednesday – at lunchtime today, we’ll be half way through the week!

This week is Mental Health Awareness Week – a chance for people all across the UK to focus on the mental health of themselves or others. The focus this year is ‘Kindness’ in response to the coronavirus outbreak, which is having a big impact on people’s mental health.

Watch this BBC Newsround video for more information: https://www.bbc.co.uk/newsround/52557800

How can you show Kindness this week whilst at home during this difficult time? Could you help to do jobs around the house? Could you play nicely with your siblings? Could you write a nice positive letter to a family member or friend?

Here is the work for today:

  • Daily Exercise: Put on your favourite playlist and dance like no-ones watching!
  • Daily Reading: at least 20 minutes – please record in your reading record
  • Maths: Power Maths Unit 13, Lesson 3  –Converting Times 1  (Book C pg 64-66). Here’s the Discover & Think Together guidance to help.
  • English: Grammar – Main and Subordinate Clauses
  • Spelling: Rainbow Writing – write the word in one colour, then go over it in another. Repeat until you run out of colours!
  • Fluency: Oxford Owl Times Tables Match – Match the two calculations that have the same product (answer)
  • Mindfulness: I have provided some activities to complete today. As I mentioned in the blog post on Monday, mindfulness is very individual and everyone has something different they find relaxing. If you would rather complete a different mindfulness activity from the pack, read or do another activity you find more calming, do that instead. I am hoping you can use this as a time to discover something new that helps you to feel calm.
  • Something fun:
    • Why not learn some British Sign Language greetings or learn how to spell your name using BSL?

Don’t forget to leave a comment to let everyone know what you’ve been up to! If you’ve missed any of the home learning, it’s still available on the blog so make sure to go back and catch up (particularly with the Maths or you may be lost).

If you have any questions about the work or want to send me photos or examples of the work you’ve been doing, please ask your parents to email me at class9@harwoodpark.rochdale.sch.uk or you can leave a comment here on the blog.

Miss French 🙂🐘
