Happy VE (Victory for Europe) day.

Thi weekend we have celebrated 75 years ago was the day that World War 2 ended, which is why this year we have a bank holiday on the Friday rather than the usual Monday.  Here is a clip that shows you a bit more detail about what happened. If you go on the bbc website there is lots more about things that happened during the war and how it came to end, with Germany surrendering. I hope you find this interesting I sure do.

Art – you have you project to carry on with if you want but if you would prefer you can look at the VE day celebrations, have a tea party in your house and celebrate what happened 75 years ago.

Friday was a bank holiday so we changed the work so that the children had the day off. I hope you enjoyed celebrating with your family in your house as it is a big day within the country. I remember when it was 50 year VE day I was a Brownie and we went on a march and there was a huge service, marques, bands and celebrations in my local park. It was a big event, although we can not celebrate like that this time you can create your own memories with the people in your house. Something I find quite interesting is Queen Elizabeth was Princess Elizabeth then and her father was on the throne, King George the VI, and she went out onto the streets to join the party with her sister Princess Margaret so they could experience the celebrations first hand and speak to the people although they were not making it obvious as to who they were.

Have a fabulous day and please send in pictures of how you have celebrated it will be great to see. Enjoy your weekend.
