In their assembly this week, children in Key Stage 2 discussed cyberbullying.

They discovered that cyberbullying is the ‘repetitive, intentional hurting of another person through technological devices such as phones or over the internet’. They listened to several scenarios and discussed how the children in those situations should respond.

Some of the examples of cyberbullying discussed were:

  • Someone deliberately posts a nasty or embarrassing picture of you on social media without your permission.
  • Receiving nasty or inappropriate emails.
  • Prank phone calls.
  • Nasty comments on social media.
  • Getting nasty or inappropriate text messages.

We came up with a strategy for how to respond to cyberbullying which includes 4 steps:
