Scientific Bake off – exploring irreversible change

As part of our science lessons, we have been conducting a number of experiments to test the results of combine different materials. This week when learning about irreversible change and chemical reactions, we made cakes! The reason being, baking is an irreversible change, we cannot get the original materials back once they have been mixed and cooked. The use of heat causes a chemical change. We knew this because the cake gave off a lovely smell and changed colour. Who knew science could be so tasty!
