We have been learning about a festival from another culture this week – the French festival of Le Carnaval (“the carnival”).

It starts with Mardi Gras (which is French for “Fat Tuesday”), the French equivalent of Pancake Day. There are lots of parades and street performances and children get to join in by dressing up. They also eat lots of yummy food such as waffles, pancakes, sweets and chocolates.

In class, we used our knowledge of animals and colours to make masks and had our own parade. Then we had pancakes with chocolate spread and golden syrup!
