Good morning Year 5! We hope your week is going well.

Here is a reminder of today’s work for Thursday 23rd April 2020

Maths
‘Lesson Four: Adding and Subtracting Decimals 4’ starts on page 15 of your practice book. Don’t forget to use the ‘discover’ guidance in your packs (the page you need is: Unit 12, lesson 3). If you have younger siblings, maybe you could set up a shop with price lists and calculate their total or you could ask your parents to give you costs of the most recent shop and add it all up. This will be good practice for adding and subtracting decimals.

English

Today’s text is an extract from Alice in Wonderland. This is an example of a fantasy text, the type we were looking at before school finished. Read the text and answer the questions provided.

Reading
Continue to read your copy of The Phantom Tollbooth (pages 189-194). We have copied the pictures of the pages below for you if you wanted to read them on the blog.

Spellings
Continue to practise this week’s spellings. Create a word search or even a cross word using each spelling. Ask someone in your house to complete it!

RE/ RHE/ Language and Communication

Continue with these extra tasks. Feel free to email your work or comment on the blog to let us know how you are getting on!

Other Ideas

Make a list of seven kind things you can do for someone else. This could be for people you live with (e.g. do the dishes one evening, tidy your room, read with your brother or sister) or people you don’t get to see every day (send someone a compliment by text, draw a picture and send a photo of it to your grandparents, etc). Each day, do one of the seven kind things from your list.

Have a look Parents or carers can get in touch by email if they like too – to speak to Mr Stamp it’s class11@harwoodpark.rochdale.sch.uk or to Miss Bishop it’s class12@harwoodpark.rochdale.sch.uk

Keep well,
Miss Bishop & Mr Stamp
