Reception have been learning all about the Christmas story this week. We have talked about the meaning behind Christmas and why Christians celebrate it. We read the story and had a go at acting it out.

Reception had lots of fun putting up our class Christmas tree. They all worked together and did a fantastic job!
In this week’s story craft session, Reception and Nursery read Handa’s Surprise. We then got messy with our fingers and created some wonderful fruit pictures, remembering what fruit Handa had in her basket.
This afternoon Reception and Nursery talked about Children in need and Pudsey Bear. We discussed how important it is that children are happy, healthy and safe. This week in our story craft club we read the story ‘Whatever Next’. We made our own rockets to fly to the moon on and then had a go at making a giant rocket in the construction area. We counted backwards from 10 to blast off into space.
Reception have had lots of fun during Maths Week! We have paid for our morning fruit using numicon, we have built a numicon city and practiced our number bonds to 5. We have also played some maths games in PE: recognising shapes and subitising. ,
Today we learned about Remembrance Day and why we wear a poppy. We talked about remembering soldiers who fought and are still fighting to protect us. The children made their own poppies to display in our classroom.
