Making decorations for the Christmas Fair!

This week we began to add numbers by combining two groups of objects and counting all of them to practise finding the total.
The children have loved playing in our ‘Baby Clinic’ and have been using language to imagine and recreate the roles of parents, doctors and receptionists!
Children in Reception love to play splat with phonics sounds, key words and numbers. So last week the children were busy practising their cutting and creative skills by making their own ‘splatter’. They then had a go at making their own word cards and sound cards to play with.
Children have enjoyed practising their throwing skills and applying their knowledge of Number in outdoor games. The children formed a line to take turns throwing the beanbag into a numbered bucket. They then recorded the number they had scored on the chalkboard.
This half term Class 1 have really enjoyed their PE lessons! They have been busy practising a range of skills such as jumping, balancing, moving in different ways, moving around and through apparatus, as well as practising getting dressed for PE independently.
Children in Class 1 have been using the iPads to create self portraits. They found and launched the app they needed and then were able to select the colours and make their pictures independently.
Children in Reception have been enjoying a range of outdoor activities this half term, from construction, music and role play to finding mini beasts!
The children in Class 1 have been finding out about Braille and how these bumpy symbols are just like the letters and numbers we are learning to read and write, but instead of reading with our eyes we read Braille using our fingers! Some children could then find the Braille Read more…
In Class 1 we have been finding out what happens when we mix two colours together. We chose our colours and mixed them in our hands! The children could then talk about the colours they had made and how they had made them.
