Class 5 have been looking at how we can split groups into two parts, then putting the two parts together to make the whole. They then wrote number sentences to represent their part-whole model.
Children have been learning the symbols + and = and saying plus and equals when reading their number sentences. Children have been working really hard on this concept and understanding where each number comes from and what it represents.
Children used concrete materials to help them count and represent a given number.
