In reception, we enjoyed sharing our favourite stories with our friends. We learnt a new rhyme about insects and created puppets to use for our performance in celebration assembly on Friday.

As part of Children’s Mental Health week, we had a visit from the SCARF Life Bus. We talked about how to keep our bodies healthy. We met Harold the Giraffe and showed him how to look after himself.

In Reception, we read the story ‘Squirrel’s Snowman’ and produced some wonderful writing! Firstly, we created a story map and retold the story with actions. Reception have enjoyed doing a range of Halloween activities in provision this week.
For national poetry day, Reception looked at poems from Michael Rosen’s book ‘Ready for Spaghetti’. We read ‘Bumblebee and Butterfly’ and ‘snail’. The children spotted the rhyming words and made their own butterflies, bumblebees and snails!
Yesterday was our Teddy’s birthday. In maths, we carefully counted to 5 and put candles on playdough cakes for him. Outside we made some mud cakes in the mud kitchen.
Last week, Reception enjoyed exploring in the mud kitchen, and painting outside. We used our cutting skills to make our own octopus’ in D&T.
