Good morning Year 6! We hope you are all doing well and enjoying the activities at home. Do you have any favourite activities so far? Do you have any extra ideas to send us for the class?

The tasks for this week are all on the timetable for Week 5 in your packs.

English

    • Read for at least 15 minutes each day. This could be a book, magazine, an online article, children’s newspaper First News etc.
If you have ran out of books at home, let us know as you can pick up a new book with your next learning pack.

  • Complete the SPaG worksheet on Hyphens. The worksheet includes instructions on the use of hyphens but if you’d like more information you can find another explanation on this BBC Bitesize Link
  • Follow the ‘Test yourself’ section of the Latin words spelling worksheet in your packs. This week you’ll be learning about the origins of some of our spellings and looking at how Latin influences a lot of our spellings/spelling rules today.

Maths

Complete the Power Maths worksheet ‘Dividing Decimals 2′. Follow the guidance on the sheet to help refresh your memory – we did a lot of this in school this year so just try your best! One method could be to take the decimal out, use bus stop method and then replace the decimal (remember to check how many place value jumps to take when you replace the decimal).

Computing
This week in the afternoons, we are focussing on E-Safety and how best to keep ourselves safe when online.

  • Complete the Internet Safety Crossword worksheet (the answers are on the back when you have finished).
  • https://www.thinkuknow.co.uk/8_10/is an excellent website that will help you think about everything you are learning about E-Safety this week.

Something fun!

You could try and grown your own rainbow. Cut a rainbow shape from a piece of kitchen roll. Use felt tips to colour the ends of the kitchen roll around 2cm. Place the ends in two bowls of water and watch your rainbow grow! Here are some pictures of children in school doing this experiment this week:

We love hearing from you about your activities and how you are getting on at home. Leave a comment on the blog or ask an adult to get in touch with us if you have any questions or just want to give us an update!
