Good morning and happy Monday to all of Year 5. We hope you managed to keep safe indoors over the weekend and enjoy yourselves with your families. Today we’ve got some work for you to keep you busy…

Maths
‘Writing Decimals as Thousandths’ lesson six in your Power Maths books. Don’t forget to use the ‘discover’ guidance in your packs (the page you need is: week 2, lesson 1).

English
Last week you did a series of comprehension tasks. This week we would like you to move on to the grammar tasks provided in your learning packs. Today you should complete the ‘Missing Punctuation’ worksheet which will show that you can correctly punctuate direct speech.

Reading
Continue to read your copy of The Phantom Tollbooth (pages 174–178). We have copied the pictures of the pages below for you if you wanted to read them on the blog – I’ve made them big so you should be able to read it all clearly enough.

Spelling
It’s time to move on to your second spelling list. Hopefully someone was able to test you on the previous list. Let us know how you got on!

Geography
This week you need to create a final project outlining your understanding of South America – and in specific the Amazon Rainforest. Like your History project, this can be done on PowerPoint if you have access to a computer or it could be a hand-drawn leaflet or even an informative poster. It’s up to you!

Don’t forget you can get in touch with either me or Miss Bishop by posting a comment on this blog post or by emailing us at class11@harwoodpark.rochdale.sch.uk or class12@harwoodpark.rochdale.sch.uk – although not in school we are still here to help everyday so do get in touch (children or parents!)

Stay safe,
Mr Stamp & Miss Bishop
