Morning Year 5 – Happy Tuesday to everyone. What did you all get up to yesterday? We hope the work was ok and helped you to fill your day! Here is a reminder of today’s work, found in your home learning pack.

Maths
‘Adding and Subtracting Decimals 7’ lesson from your Power Maths pages. Don’t forget to use the ‘discover’ guidance in your packs.

English
This week we have prepared some spelling, punctuation and grammar (SPAG) activities. Please complete ‘SPAG Mat 2’ today. How was yesterday’s?

Reading
Read a book or a magazine that interests you – and please do let us know any books that you can recommend.

Maths Assessment Year 5 Term 2
This should take you 30 minutes and there are answers in the back of your packs so that you can check how you got on.

Current Affairs
In your learning packs I printed out a full Covid-19 Time Capsule. This would be a nice way to document how you are feeling, what you are doing, who you are with etc. so that in the future you can look back on this time and remember how you were feeling. Remember to try and stay positive: we all hope to be back to normal soon.

Computing
As you are likely to be spending more time in front of a screen at the moment, have a look at these activities to make sure you know how to keep yourself safe online at all times.

Activity 1: Watch Play Like Share (Episode 1)
• Find Play Like Share here
• Watch Episode 1: Block Him Right Good, Alfie
• Use the following questions to chat about the cartoon:

1. What did you think? What did you like about Play Like Share?
2. What different things do Sam, Ellie and Alfie do online?
3. What problem did Alfie face at the beginning of the cartoon?
4. How did the gamer make Alfie feel?
5. What did Alfie do when he realised something wasn’t right?
6. What happened when Selfie’s video was made public? How did it make them feel?

I will post some answers tomorrow!

Finally, we would really like to hear from you to see how you’re getting on with he work but more importantly to know you’re all ok. Please comment below. Parents and carers can continue to contact us by email (class11@harwoodpark.rochdale.sch.uk or class12@harwoodpark.rochdale.sch.uk)

Stay safe,
Mr Stamp & Miss Bishop
