Last week during our writing week Class 11 built up to planning a fantasy setting description. We are really focussing on being conscientious writers (we also like to use complex vocabulary) and become more aware of how our language choice affect the reading experience. Over two days we particularly focussed on using verbs and adverbs to suggest how a character is feeling and reacting in the build up to discovering a fantasy world. Following this, we explored how varying synonyms to avoid repitition and select vocabulary for effect can create a more vivid picture.

Here are just a few examples and we hope you agree that we have put a lot of effort and thought into each example. We have also included a variety of expected Year 5 writing features. Can you spot any?

Class 11 I am SO impressed with your writing.
I’ve spotted adverbs, brackets and RELATIVE CLAUSES!! I’m pleased you haven’t forgotten what they are 🙂
This work makes me very proud of you all, keep it up, you really are superstar writers.
