We continued working scientifically this week by designing and carrying out a test to see which material would make the best heat insulator.

We covered five beakers with different materials before filling them with boiling water. Using a thermometer, we then measured the temperature every five minutes to see which beaker retained its heat for the longest. The materials we chose were:

  • cotton
  • netting
  • quilting
  • paper
  • bubble wrap

We have the results but are hoping to present them in a slightly more interesting way than just a table so check back next week to find out which material was the best!
