Class 9 have begun a week-long investigation in to tooth decay. The children have come up with their own scientific enquiry to test which common drinks are the worst for tooth decay. They have used Coke, orange juice, apple juice, milk and water. In place of teeth, the children decided to use hard-boiled eggs (because of the similarities between teeth and egg shell). In order to make the enquiry a fair test, the class measured out the exact same amount of liquid for each cup and will check the containers every day for signs of decay.

Which liquid do you predict will decay the eggs the quickest?

I predict that the Coke will be the worst – because it has the most sugar! I predict that the egg may go brown because of its environment or black if it rots.

I predict that the water won’t do anything to the egg because there is no sugar in the water.

This looks very EGGSiting! Can’t wait to see what happens! My guess is that the orange juice will have the most effect….. what does everyone else think?
