As part of our RAMP Reading lessons this half term, we have read ‘If’ by Rudyard Kipling and discussed the advice he gives in the poem and whether it is still relevant today. We all agreed that it is.

Across the half term, we also explored extracts from two new authors – Katherine Randell and Helena Duggan. As a class, we read and analysed the first chapter of each book. This got us hooked into the stories and most of the class begged to read on.

We entered the names of the children who wanted to continue reading these stories on into a hat and drew names. These children have taken the stories home to read and will bring them back when completed, put their rating the inside cover and pass on to the next child waiting to read it. This has massively increased enthusiasm and book talk around class.
