Today in Class 8, our RE lesson was focused on how the Bible teaches Christians about temptation and how to resist it. We discussed the meaning of ‘temptation’ and watched a video about Genesis 3 – The Fall. This is a Bible story about Adam and Eve ignoring God’s rules by not being able to resist the temptation of eating forbidden fruit in the Garden of Eden. We saw how giving in to temptation changed God’s world because Adam and Eve did not follow God’s way.
After this, we talked about things that we get tempted by such as dishonesty, selfishness, cheating and big-headedness. We talked about how we can make better choices and considered what Christians do to help them resist temptation including reading the Bible, prayer and using willpower.
We finished with some drama as we acted out a scenario that had led us to temptation and how we had overcome it. We have some fabulous actors and actresses in Class 8. Miss Wolf, Mrs Lee and Miss Brown were very impressed.
