We’ve been continuing our learning about States of Matter this week and have learnt why solids, liquids and gases behave differently. It’s all about the particles.

The particles in a solid are packed tightly together so there I see no room to move. This is why a solid keeps it shape. In a liquid, the particles are a little loser. This allows liquids to flow and take the shape of their container. With a gas, the particles are really far apart so they can move further and faster, meaning they can flow and spread through the air.

We we went outside to pretend to be particles. Have a look at the photos below and see if you can work out if we are being a solid, a liquid or a gas.
