Continuing our learning journey into Space, class 12 focussed this week on understanding the immense scale, distances and order of our solar system and the planets within. Children were given a scaled down representation of each planet which they had to create using rolled up paper and a ruler to ensure accurately. Sizes ranged from 0.5 cm (mercury) compared to the sun which was scaled down to 139 cm. We lined the planets up and took time to discuss, compare and share what surprised us most and what they knew now about the solar system.
