In Science, Class 10’s topic is ‘Sound’. Today, we started to explore pitch and how we could change the pitch of different musical instruments. We investigated the ways to change pitch on a guitar, a recorder and a xylophone.

Then we had a go at making our own instrument and made panpipes using straws and sticky tape. As you can hear on our video, the pitch of the sound changes depending on the length of the straw.

How do you make the straw pipes?

    Miss Wolf · 26th January 2018 at 8:42 pm

All you need is straws, scissors and sticky tape. Cut different lengths of your straws and stick them together. Blow into the top and you should hear the different pitches 🙂
