In Science we have been learning about classifying organisms.

We have learnt how to group animals according to Karl Linnaeus’ theory and this week we discovered the advantages and disadvantages of micro-organisms/microbes.

We made bread to observe how the yeast helps in this case, as yeast is an example of a micro-organism used to make the bread rise.

We also put yeast in air tight bags with various ingredients (flour, sugar, salt, coffee) to see how they reacted. We know that yeast produces carbon dioxide (CO2) which in turn would inflate the air tight bags.
