Class 11 spent Tuesday afternoon investigating if materials dissolve. We discussed the difference between melting and dissolving and decided to look at which materials are soluble and which are insoluble.

Working in teams, we set up our experiment and chose how much water we would use, what quantity of material we would use and how many times we would stir it to make sure it was a fair test. Every team allowed two minutes for each test to give the material time to dissolve.

We investigated if flour, sugar, rice, gravy, coffee and salt would dissolve and from our results, we were able to see what was soluble and what was insoluble.

The lesson with dissolving was fun it was also satisfying watching the things dissolve. The flour and water made it look like a dough .
