Class 9 were lucky enough to have a visit from the charity, Guide Dogs UK today.
Frieda, who volunteers for the charity, brought Henry the Labrador in to meet the children and talk to them about how guide dogs help blind people.
The children found out about the process involved in training a guide dog… and the cost! Did you know it costs £55,000 to support a guide dog throughout its life?
After the talk, the children were given the opportunity to stroke and cuddle Henry – which, of course, they really enjoyed!

Congratulations Class 9! Hope you had a great time. My name is Teddy, and I am training with my new “Ma”. She is registered Blind / Severely Vision Impaired. She has about 2% sight in one eye only. We all live on a narrow boat and are currently training in Rugby. There are lots of hills here. They are keeping Ma fit! Me, I just take it in my stride.

Ma used to go out with her previous dog, Guide Dog Oakley, to schools and other organisations, talking about Guide Dogs, living with a vision impairment and, of course, letting people stroke and say “hello” to her dog.
