As part of our micro-organism topic in Science, we are learning about microbes such as bacteria and fungi. Today we focused on yeast and how this fungi is used in foods. We used yeast to make a loaf of bread and were intrigued to see the dough rise throughout the afternoon.

We then added yeast to various foods such as: coffee, salt, sugar, flour and oil to see which foods yeast likes best and least. We found that yeast like flour best and coffee least. We judged this by seeing how much air was filled in each bag due to the yeast.
