Class 13 have been learning about equivalent fractions. They used till rolls to make fractions, then looked for fractions which are equivalent.

Year 6 enjoyed their final rugby session in school today. They have learnt and applied lots of skills throughout this half-term.
Class 14 visited Rochdale football ground to attend a Crucial Crew workshop. Within this workshop there were a number of different safety awareness sessions on healthy eating, anti-vandalism, rail safety and additional first aid training.
Class 14 were fortunate enough to board Samsung’s Virtual Reality space bus on Thursday. The bus was packed full of interactive activities and learning on space. Year 6 were visited by the fire brigade this week. The purpose of this visit was to help increase awareness of safety around fire ahead of events such as bonfire night. The children of Classes 13 & 14 had lots of good questions for the firemen.
Class 14 performed the first class assembly of the year today. Each and every child learnt the lines they had written and spoke with clear voices and enthusiasm. Well done to everyone. Thank you to the parents who came and supported their children.
The British Red Cross visited the children of year 6 today to teach them some basic first aid skills and awareness. All children took part and learnt about the recovery position and CPR.
The headteacher of Siddal Moor today visited Harwood Park to speak to Year 5/6 about transition to secondary school. Siddal Moor’s open evening takes place on Thursday 27th September 2018, 6pm to 8pm.
Staff from St. Anne’s Academy visited Year 6 this morning. They told them about the school day, subjects, lunchtime and after school clubs. Their open evening is this Thursday (20th September) from 5.30 to 8pm.
Class 14 have shown excellent perseverance and resilience when it comes to calculating intervals across zero. Using negative numbers can be tricky but the class have tackled their challenges and made strong progress today.
