In Nursery we have been observing a little caterpillar munching on leaves. We have been discussing the life cycle of a caterpillar and using key vocabulary such as cocoon, spin, flutter, butterfly etc.
Class 13 have been making circuits to light a bulb. They had to investigate the difference between a series circuit and a parallel circuit.
Class 14 have been completing a Science unit in a week, following the completion of our SATs. The topic – Seeing Light – will see the children create their own periscopes. Before this, however, they explored how mirrors reflect light at different angles.
This week we have being investigating which materials will conduct electricity (conductors) and which will not (insulators). We discovered that only metal will conduct electricity, which is why plastic is used to cover wires and plugs, because it will not allow that electricity to pass through.
As part of our new Science learning journey ‘Working Scientifically’ Class 5 carried out an investigation using Skittles. Children in Class 1 have had an astronomical start to our space topic this term! We have been reading facts about space and have learnt lots of new vocabulary. This week we have been practising using these new words in a range of role play activities.

To finish our forces topic we ended with a competitive Kahoot quiz. Each child had an iPad and had to answer questions related to all our lessons to compete for first place! Well done to our winner Jack!
