Children in Class 1 have really enjoyed playing a range of percussion instruments in their Music lessons. We have been practising tapping out the pulse to different music and repeating rhythms using the instruments, as well as learning to sing the songs ‘Wind the bobbin up’ and ‘five little monkeys’.
In music we have been learning about jazz music. We have looked at how jazz came about where it originated. We have listened and appraised a range of songs and have played the glockenspiels and are learning to play the recorder .

Last week in music we learned the words and rhythm of the ‘dragon song’. Our next step was to get the glockenspiels out and have a go at playing along. It was a lot of noisy fun and it sounded great considering it was our first attempt!
This week in music, Class 11 started to play the recorder with Miss Gibson. Beautiful sounds were coming from the classroom as children learnt different notes and their first song. Keep an eye on our blog to see their progress with this new skills!

Last week, Mr Dixon wasn’t able to attend our music lesson because he was ill, so instead of cornets we had a recorder lesson with Mrs Taylor. She taught us how to play two notes on the descant recorder (B and A) and we played some rhythms and call and Read more…
In nursery we have been making shakers as part of our phase 1 phonics sessions. We have experimented with the sounds that the different shakers make and compared the similarities and differences between the sounds.
Nursery have been experimenting with the different musical instruments and they worked together to make a rock band. The children banged, tapped and stroked the different instruments to hear what sounds the instruments made and then they played the instruments together singing along to different nursery rhymes.
Today, class 9 began their brass lessons with Mr Dixon from the music service. This year they will be learning how to play the cornet. Mr Dixon was extremely impressed with the children’s attitude and behaviour and is looking forward working with them this year. Please keep an eye out Read more…
