Our topic this term is on the farm. Reception have been pretending to milk cows in the water tray, we have grown our own cress and made some fabulous farm animals.

Today Reception have been learning about length. We been using the words ‘longer’ and ‘shorter’ to describe different objects. We made our own caterpillars out of playdough and compared them to each other’s to see which is longer and which is shorter.
Reception have been learning about different shops on our high street. Today we set up our own cafe in the classroom and practiced ordering food, exchanging money and being the cafe workers. We used our phonics knowledge to write down our orders.
This week we have been working on our fine motor skills, we have been using scissors, chalk, cotton buds to paint and mark make, which helps develop them vital muscles in their fingers and hands to help aid them to control writing objects when they are ready to write. Children Read more…
This week Reception have been learning about the artist Gustav Klimt. We looked at some of his work and learnt a new word; ‘mosaic’. We then had a go at making our own mosaic pictures. Look at our fabulous creations.
Reception have been learning all about the Christmas story this week. We have talked about the meaning behind Christmas and why Christians celebrate it. We read the story and had a go at acting it out.
Reception had lots of fun putting up our class Christmas tree. They all worked together and did a fantastic job!
This afternoon Reception and Nursery talked about Children in need and Pudsey Bear. We discussed how important it is that children are happy, healthy and safe.
