Measuring length
We have been practicing measuring length using ‘longer’ and ‘shorter’. We made playdough caterpillars and compared the lengths with our partners.

Reception have been talking about how important it is to respect our world and our school. We made a poster to remind children to put their rubbish in the bin and hung it up in the dinner hall.
Reception have been enjoying our outdoor area. We have been hunting for minibeasts, smelling beautiful flowers, collecting natural treasures and talking about what can hear outside.
Enjoying Lunar New Year celebrations. Reception made lanterns, role played Eastern restaurants and had a go at writing Chinese numbers.
Reception held a 2 minute silence today to remember the soldiers who fought in the war. They also made poppies and soldiers and learnt all about why we commemorate this day.
We have been learning how to make new colours in our Art lessons by mixing blue, red and yellow. Children have enjoyed exploring this further in the provision mixing lots of different colours and shades!
Reception have been learning all about the artist Jackson Pollock. Pollock is famous for his drip painting techniques, so we had a go at making our own splatter paintings.
For science week Reception discovered where chips come from. We washed the potatoes from the farmers field, peeled and chopped them, and when they were cooked we ate them with some salt. They were delicious!
Our topic this term is on the farm. Reception have been pretending to milk cows in the water tray, we have grown our own cress and made some fabulous farm animals.
Reception had a fantastic world book day. We read the traditional tale; Goldilocks and the three bears and made our own porridge. We had a go at sequencing and writing the story and made bear masks in the creative area.
